Story Hook For Waterdeep
After moving around quite a bit, Casrus is currently, temporarily, employed in the services of the noble family of Cassalanter. They are big in banking, money-lending and rumor-mongering. They are also known for their philanthropic actions: running homeless shelters in the Field Ward and Dock Ward districts of the city of Waterdeep. Those districts are the poorest and most dangerous ones.
The Cassalanter family has many connections to other nobles, merchants, mercenaries, they have their eyes & ears on the streets as well. They are one of the best contacts to find information and people in town. At the same time, Casrus has never actually met them. He works only with their representatives who provide tasks & rewards upon completion. The pay is good and he did not have to affiliate himself with known criminal gangs like the Xanathar thieves guild or the Black Network.
The general instruction to Casrus was that he keep a low profile and don’t talk about who he is working for, the what, why and how of any of his jobs. He is never given a written task list of any sort. So far, the jobs have been of the sort that are a bit more of physical nature like bodyguard jobs.
Casrus has been instructed to meet with his current task giver again to get his next assignment. Apparently something with a bigger risk, but much bigger reward.
