Evening Strolls and Consequences
Call it a day. Get food and rations tomorrow morning. That was the plan. But then the other lady of Trollskull manor, Kallista, arrives. She’s a musician. Maybe I should also start to learn an instrument. Music seems to pay pretty well if she can afford a house. And I saw the musicians at the opera, it didn’t seem too hard. They weren’t sweating at all. I wonder what instrument would be a good pick? Maybe I’ll ask her some time. Oh, I almost forgot, we had heard back from Pyotr’s network, but he’s disappeared again. Didn’t say a word what he was up to. Seems to be a habit. More beer for me, haha!
Pyotr’s network, right! Sadly no news on the burned man who had fled after the incident at the opera. But! Nimblething was easily identifiable: brass body, red cape, a hat, and a fashionable beard. I wonder what that means. Fashionable. It was on some list, and someone remembered. The Gralhund family had bought it. They are into weapons manufacturing and work with sellswords, even have a mercenary crew they rent out. Pyotr’s network really came through on that task, damn. And apparently their place is just four blocks away, so the three of us decide to take a stroll.
And wow, their estate is big, but also well guarded. It’s late and I can smell the stables on the estate. Just when we want to head back, we spot some black clad folks hanging out around the back entrance in the shadows. The ladies can’t decide what to do, so I play drunk and walk towards the shady figures to get a closer look. Less talk, more do. Also, I am a bit drunk, so how hard can it be? They’re eight, and definitely up to something, but act as if they’re delivering food. Something’s off. Oh yes! This one guy has half of his face burnt, those folks must be Black Network! I go back and in that moment they break into the house just like that. I forgot why we’re here, but this seems a perfect excuse for getting some exercise with the good old skull splitter. Kallista runs and alerts the guards at the front entrance. Teamwork makes the dream work! Eira and I go in through the back and we hear screams. There’s people lying on the floor bleeding out. Eira does her thing, so we can say we helped. I think she is a really nice person and seems to like people. I mean why would she care if they live otherwise? I rush up the stairs to catch two of the burglars. They’re easy kills. Eira does some sparkly magic, she seems useful also in ranged combat. We get rid of them in no time.
Kallista joins us, and we rush back down to help a wimpy guard fight off one of the attackers. I guess that guard lives to see another day, and the shady guy flees. Kallista convinces the guard to continue to protect the lord and lady of the house, and tell us where they are. They are upstairs, he says. She seems to have a way with people. Well, I hope that’s not his death sentence. He’s really spent, maybe he’s new. We sprint up the other set of stairs to the Master bedroom and a few dark clad goons await us. One of them threatens the lord of the house, and someone seems to have barricaded themselves behind a door. Probably the lady of the house. I want to jump at the nearest guy, but then some Drow figures enter from the balcony. What a surprise. Gettin’ hella crowded in here.
