Mimicry Money

I guess they’re fighting something! Eira comes out of that room shooting magic at something, so I jump off the ladder and run towards them. Did we miss any bodies? Was someone still alive? Someone hiding?

This is not what I was expecting! It turns out the chest they were examining turned into some living creature trying to eat Pyotr alive. My first two hits don’t do so well, but after some magic intervention from Eira I go for some more swings and split that gross thing in half. It spits out a half digested dwarf, still clutching a pretty sturdy small chest, can you believe it. Eira says that the body is probably for as long in there as the other bodies we found here. I think Pyotr should investigate that small chest. He’s able to pick the lock really well. It’s great I don’t have to open it with my axe for a change, although if I’m honest, I don’t really mind, haha.

I didn’t really expect what we found. I haven’t seen that much money in a while, and it looks like it’s all for us. Isn’t it? Are we going to split it among us evenly? I guess we should have that conversation now.

Finally we find our way up the ladder into another dead end street, and put back the urban camouflage that was hiding the entrance before. It might come in handy later.

Where is Kallista? Is she creating that commotion next street, performing in front of a crowd? We pass by her on our way back to Trollskull manor, and it feels like the song she’s performing is about us. Is she singing about a poop river? The people seem to like it. They like it a lot!

Back at the manor we divvy up the gold we found. That chest also contained a small letter which Pyotr reads aloud for us all. All the info points to something at the Xanathar hideout Pyotr and I infiltrated very early on for Rusham. We think there’s probably an entrance in the basement to the sewers and the walls should be marked with some red signs to lead some folks to the so-called “Staircase of Eyes”. Speaking of eyes, I think Kallista got somewhat obsessed with that weird stone she keeps on herself with the two missing “eyes”. She’s hellbent on getting these back. I guess we should go to that hideout then. It is probably that “Terasse’s house of healing” mentioned in the letter. They did have a painting of a beholder on the 1st floor screaming Xanathar, so that checks out. Maybe we can find that “Staircase of Eyes”, and that leads us to the eyes Kallista wants so bad.
