Mortician, Musician, and Mercenary

I wake up to some noise in the middle of the night. Looks like I passed out over my beer at the table. Well, now I’m sure we were followed. I wake up Pyotr and he hurries up the stairs to wake the ladies. Just as he comes back with Eira, we hear someone trying to break in through the side door of Trollskull manor. I kick the door into their face and sprint after that person, but they’re too quick. They vanish into the sewers through a grate they left open. I don’t see anyone else around, so we barricade the doors with the tables and go back to sleep. I leave the stone with Eira upstairs for safekeeping.

Rise and shine. I wake up, and Eira and Kallista inspect the weird stone. Kallista spends some more time, and she somehow gets a connection to it. It shows her pictures of one of the missing eyes on some stand. Pedestal they call it, I thought flowers had pedestals. Anyway, I don’t like it. I think it’s bad magic. We should just get rid of it. This all is connected to Renaer’s recent death. Kallista? Hello? She seems to be a bit beside herself. Eira and Kallista debate what to do, and we are about to settle for trying to find where Renaer was last staying, when a paper bird from Eira’s Emerald Conclave friends arrives through the window. “Cultists spotted. Investigate Aveen Street, North Ward, immediately” it reads they say. This is much more concrete than what we planned before. Pyotr offers to gather additional information about Renaer and where he last stayed, and who might have seen him. He takes off to investigate, while the three of us head towards Aveen Street.

Someone comes out of a building on Aveen Street, sees Kallista and me, and immediately goes back in. I think we’ve been spotted. After regrouping with Eira she tries to trick them into opening the door, pretending to be a salesperson going from door to door, but they don’t buy it. So we hole up in a bar nearby: Pip’s Pit. Eira observes the suspicious house while Kallista plays a few songs, and I win 10 copper at a dice game. Amazing! Eira sees one person, a raven, and a rat leave at the same time and take different routes. She’s also spotted by the person and loses them. Looks like we’re back to square one. After talking to some locals regarding rumors about the fire last night, we don’t get anything valuable and decide to head towards the Royal Apples bar to meet with Rusham and at least get paid for the job at the opera. I get Pyotr’s and my share. Rusham is really interested in what else happened last night, especially about the stone. He says there is a lot of money in it from the Cassalanters if we could get the stone or knew where it was. I am so conflicted. I think it would piss off everyone, especially Eira if I would say we have it, but what are we going to do with it anyway, and that stone creeps me out. Maybe I can convince them tomorrow, but for today we head back to Trollskull manor. We should see what’s up, and maybe check out the sewers where that person vanished who tried to break in. As we arrive, there is a cart in front of it. Although this is a busy neigbourhood, there is no reason there should be a cart parked before the house. I get up close to it to see what’s inside. Kallista is with me, and as I lift the tarp, she gasps as she recognizes the two bodies hidden on the cart. One is a guy called Floon, who looks a bit like Renaer, and the other one is someone called Arth Whitbloom. What is going on?
